Quote of the Week: Owning less is better than organizing more. – Joshua Becker

Hello friends!

I hope you're having a good week so far! We are still getting into the routine of the new school year, and soaking up the last few days of sunshine in Washington state. Before we know it, it's going to be raining all the time.

This week I dropped off a van-load of stuff for our local Just Between Friends resale. I've done a lot of resales over the years, and I'm always shocked to see how much stuff we are getting rid of. Seriously, I think I've been decluttering for the last three years, yet there's still so much stuff. It's madness!

One Pot Meals

This week I wrote about how to wash fewer dishes, and I've been on a mission to do just that. One thing I've been trying to do is cook more one pot meals.

I recently purchased the Ultimate Healthy Living Bundle, and it includes the Skillet Freezer Meals cookbook. By prepping things ahead, I'm hoping we can avoid ordering takeout as much.

All of the meals in the Skillet Freezer Meals cookbook are made for freezing. When you're ready to eat, you take out your baggie of frozen food, throw it on the skillet, and you have a meal in 15 minutes.

It's part of the Ultimate Healthy Living Bundle, which is available today.

Organizing Travel Rewards

We spent an obnoxious amount of cash on travel last year. As we've been looking at our budget for the coming year, there's a lot of traveling we'd like to do to attend weddings, meet new nieces and nephews, and visit our parents.

We're trying to get our ducks in a row with our travel rewards, and see if we can save on some of our upcoming trips.

On Monday, I came across the site Travel Miles 101. They have a free e-course that walks you through the concept of “travel hacking.”

I'm not sure we're up for serious travel hacking because a lot of it involves signing up for new credit cards (:-() , but I'm interested to learn about more ways to save on airfare.

The Travel Miles 101 course comes with a spreadsheet to help you track all of your travel rewards accounts. I'm going to use it!

  1. Now that my little ones are older and it’s not a tremendous hassle to travel with them … I’m definitely getting interested in travel hacking. I have to admit though, the signing up for credit cards does put me off. I’ll have to look into a bit more …

For now, my husband thinks I am a beautiful genius after organizing his ballcaps with your $1 trick so, thank you for THAT!! 🙂
