Get ready for summer by making make ahead juice pops to serve whenever the ice cream truck rolls around.

Summer is almost here. Lately the temperatures have been rising, and the ice-cream truck has been making its nightly rounds in our neighborhood.

Up until this year, our kids didn’t know what the ice cream truck was. This year, they’re completely aware of the ice cream truck, and all that it holds. They don’t to want to miss out on the ice-cream-truck action.

I’m totally dreading the disappointment from the munchkins. We don’t want to run to the ice cream truck every single night. But I don’t want them to feel like they’re missing out every single night either.

So, this is what we’re trying:

Colorful juice pops. Will they win the battle against the ice cream truck?

These are juice pop molds that you can use to make your own popsicles. You can fill them with ice cream, juice, fruit, or whatever you want.

I like that they’re colorful, and they look like fun. They also seem like they’re going to be less messy when stuff starts to drip.

Prepping juice pops for this summer.

We’ve started by filling them with apple juice. Our kids don’t drink juice very often, so hopefully this will be a nice treat for them.

When the ice-cream-truck music starts blaring through out house, we’re going to offer these popsicles as a “healthy” alternative.

We’ll see how it goes…

What do you do when the ice cream truck comes? Seriously, if this juice pop thing doesn’t work out, I’m going to need some help!
