Are you wishing you had enough money to invest in a blogging class? Want to have someone help you transfer from Blogger to WordPress, but don't have the funds to pay for it? Do you wish there were more ways to earn money to invest in your blog – especially for new bloggers?
Where there's a will, there's a way. The following is a list of ideas for generating money for your blog so you can take it to the next level. They are all things you can do right now. Even if you have a brand-new blog.
Ways to Earn Money to Invest in Your Blog
- Sell something on Amazon or have a garage sale. We sold a watch that we never used, and made just over $100 on Amazon. Look through your home and see if you have something that you don't need that you could sell online.
- Sell your services on Fiverr. You could create graphics, write, or even help people with the technical side of their blogs. Fiverr could open the doors to more earning opportunities. Check out the site and see what other people are selling to get ideas.
- Apply for paid writing gigs. A good source to find opportunities is on Problogger. They have job listings for blog post writing in lots of different niches.
- If you're able to, babysit, petsit, or housesit. You can find babysitting jobs on Sittercity, or offer your services to your friends and neighbors.
- Be a mystery shopper. BestMark has mystery shopping gigs for oil changes. You could get paid to get your oil changed, and potentially have your oil change paid for too!
- When you search online, use Swagbucks. You can earn points that you can use towards gift cards. I like to get Amazon gift cards and use them to buy things like diapers and wipes. Then I allocate some of our grocery budget towards whatever I'm saving up for.
- Use EBates. You'll earn cashback for things you're buying anyway, so it's like free money. A lot of times, when you sign up, they have some type of gift card incentive. Promote EBates on your own blog, and you could earn money every time someone signs up through your link.
- Use cash back apps on your phone. Checkout51, Ibotta, and Snap all have ways to earn cash back on groceries. Sometimes the cash back is for specific products, but they often offer cash back for things like bread, bananas, and milk.
- Start using affiliate links on your site. You can earn a small amount if someone purchases through your link. Use links that make sense for what you're already writing about. Some of the more popular affiliate sites are Amazon and Share-A-Sale.
- Organize your finances and create a budget. Sometimes when you do this, you'll end up finding ways to save, which could help you in saving up for your blog. Last week I organized some of my old financial paperwork, and I found a rebate check that I forgot to cash. That money went straight into my blog fund!
With a little creativity, you can earn money to invest in your blog. Doing more than one of the things listed above will yield quicker results. Good luck, and happy blogging!
